The two character that I am going to compare and contrast are John Proctor and Elizabeth
Proctor. These two character are married and have 3 kids, also they are very religious.
The two characters John and Elizabeth will be compared and contrasted through diction.
Both characters have some differences in them. John a loveable man that doesn’t want to
upset Elizabeth and how is not easily angered by anything that Elizabeth says. Elizabeth
on the other hand is a woman who is very unforgivable. Everything John Proctor says she
gets mad about. The two still seem to cope well even thought they have there marriage

like he is an inadequate husband, also when he is angered so easily, its frustration. But John can be an untrustworthy person, he seems to
be a little sneaky. John and Elizabeth try their best to be Christians Whilst still looking after
each other and their farm, but there are some differences that is making there relationship
a bad patch and also John is not satisfied. When John and Elizabeth are talking it becomes
apparent to the audience through stage directions that John is uncomfortable. “As gently
as he can” He talks like that so he doesn’t get Elizabeth mad. After these words Proctor later goes on to
say “I think you’re sad again. Elizabeth needs to learn how to trust him and not get
mad when ever he says something. He is doing everything he can to prove his trustworthiness, and show her
that he is trying to please her. He doesn’t seem to tell Elizabeth everything that he should about
Abigail. t reside in their house even if it does in the
rest of Salem. These two quotes best shows Proctor’s
loving emotions toward his wife Elizabeth, at a time when most people kept their
emotions to themselves, Proctor is open.
