Cristina also takes Vittorio to America with her and she does not rely on anyone to help her with her child. When Cristina is about to leave for America a lot of the towns people come to say farewell and they ask her to take parcels for their friends and family. Society should respect every individual since every person on Earth is special. Cristina demonstrates all the aspects of a loving mother. Shortly after the snake bites her, she does not complain and she pretends that she is unaware of the bite.

Cristina’s determination to change society’s views on certain subjects shows her strong beliefs and makes the people of Valle del Sole realize that she has reasoning behind her actions. Cristina takes her son with her to America even though she could have left him alone with his father, since she is going to visit her German soldier. At the time of her decision to leave Valle del Sole her father is outraged and he begins to yell at her. Cristina is mad that men are free to do what they want but if a woman does it she is awful person.
