BS2000: The Art of Production

             Dealing almost strictly with the production of beats and creation of rapping over sampling, Adam Horovitz and partner Amery "AWOL" Smith of the group BS2000 have put out a unique blend of music in a genre that cannot simply be titled. Their recently released second album "Simply Mortified" has gotten great responses from many fans of the type of hip-hop and "lo-fi" production that BS2000 and artists its genre pride itself on. In the course of the past decade changes in the production of beats and music in general have become more and more apparent in different genres. Perhaps the most effected type of music has been the techno and dance music that have taken production into a whole new realm. Adam Horovitz of the "The Beastie Boys," has now melded his own form of beats, lyrics and production into this new side project.
             What is found in the culture of this music is an inherent tie to dance and movement in listeners, from the simplest tap of the foot or a clap to the beat. The music is the fuel by which these fans run, and with every new album a new angle is created for the genre. There is a lot that cannot be said about this music because so much of it is derived from the feeling one gets from listening to it. It truly produces a different and unique atmosphere. Some people attach themselves to the drum, while others choose the organ or piano. This music provokes choice and it covers a full range of instruments that create a sound that almost anyone can enjoy. The feeling is one of pure fun and entertainment, which is an undeniable result of this music's greatness.
