Plastic surgery has become more and more popular every year. Reconstructive surgery has increase 9% from 2000 to 2001(Gaynor 2). There are so many different kinds of procedures that could make the body the way the person wants. The most popular surgeries that are performed include breast, liposuction, face, neck, arm, thigh, buttock, and many more. Whatever the customer wants to fix on their body can be done. The more surgeons find how to make the body closer to perfection the more people consider having the surgery.
             In today's beauty culture plastic surgery is the most common surgery done, for the pressure that society brings to all ages to become "ideal" person. The problem that is growing more and more is that many young ladies are getting their body constructed when their body is not don't growing yet. This could cause many problems and complications. Another problem is that many people get it done because society pushes thoughts in their heads that to be recognized they have to be good looking. These issues could cause psychological problems as well.
             In the 1980's plastic surgery was very uncommon. When someone did have the surgery it made the person look like they were wealthy. During the eighties, the only people that did have the operation were celebrities. It was so expensive to get it done that they were the only ones that could afford it. Then it became very popular in the nineties that it became affordable to the average person. They thought that could become that actor or actress they admire. Once 2000 hit reconstructive surgery increased 174%, form 29,607 to 81,089 (McCabe 145). As the years go by, the statistics grow higher and higher.
