It is the author's opinion that mandatory hands-on training on "how to install a car seat" should be part of a yearly recertification for those who work with or come in contact with the pediatric population (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). It was also found that the average installation directions for car seats were written at least at a 10th grade (Wegner, Girasek, 2003). market had universal attachment hardware to simplify the installation. This evidence may be antidotal, but the mandatory seat belt laws have increased the compliance of child safety seats. The cost and liability have limited secure systems that will adapt to the current child safety seat technology. Scientific research has increased interest from governmental agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
