SHOULD SHAKESPEARE BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS?

This is up to the school, but I believe that Shakespeare should be taught to students, not only in upper school, but also in lower secondary.

The death of Queen Elizabeth on the 24th March, 1603 and the accession of King James I were changes of enormous impact to England, which was already experiencing a massive change – to the political, religious, economic, demographic, technological and cultural areas. They struggle, sometimes successfully, but sometimes with painful and tragic endings. His influence on the language is not only restricted to writers and scholars, many everyday people use Shakespeare’s words and phrases. You should be thankful for what you have been given, because in one second, you could lose it all. He is looked up to because of the affect that he has had on the way that we live our lives today.

On the life of a man

What is our life? A play of passion,

Our mirth the music of division,

Our mothers’ wombs the tyring houses be,

Where we are dressed for this short Comedy,

Heaven the Judicious sharp spectator is,

That sits and marks still who doth acts amisse,

Our graves that hide us from the searching Sun,

Are like drawn curtains when the play is done,

Thus march we playing to our latest rest,

Only we die in earnest, that’s no jest. They struggle, just as people in real life do. The most conspicuous change was to the genre of plays he wrote. If he was forgotten, what would happen to the impact that he had? No one would know what he did, for us.
