School is the relative name given to an institution of education. Recent studies
have suggested that the common student's general education is poor and lacking. A
solution to extend the school year from its current 183 days to 210 days has been
proposed. The school year should not be extended to improve the present education
To begin with, current teaching methods are insufficient and impractical. For
example, teachers exclusively educate students towards attaining high scores on their
PSATs and SATs. The preliminary scholastic aptitude test and regular scholastic aptitude
test are standardized exams used to "rank" schools, satisfactory or poor. Teaching
multiple subjects in a broad and general curriculum rather than emphasizing on
traditional basics and deeper explanations stunt a pupil's education. In addition, high
scores are greeted with high, school incomes. This shows that a school whose results are
poor cannot receive adequate funding to correct their instructional flaws. The status of
malpracticing institutes of education will continue to decline while only the better schools
advance and benefit. These corrupted ideas and incentives are what need to be changed.
Even more importantly, extending the school year is excessively unreasonable.
The proposal of extending school will diminish a little over two weeks of
schoolchildren's vocational time. Instead of fixing current teaching practices,
punishments of overworking and dulling the life of students are handed down. This puts a
limitation on the time kids have to relax and truly be kids. In addition, the longer children
attend school the more money these educational institutions take in. There's wonder to
