Tennyson portrays Ulysses as an aging hero who is not content to step out of the spotlight; this can be viewed as a flaw or a true love of life. Ulysses states that he has so enjoyed all of his travels on the seas, he wants to return to the adventure so he can learn more, like when he says “to follow knowledge like a sinking star. ” Yet the question here still remains- will he ever be happy and fulfilled?
