Nederland in Lessen (Dutch at the Double), in 1938. From then on, Audrey began making movie after movie, slowly
gaining recognition in the movie industry. In 1969, she married
psychiatrist Andrea Dotti, also having a son, Luca, in 1970.
In 1954, Audrey married actor Mel Ferrer, and together they had a
son, Sean, in 1960, before divorcing in 1968.
Sadly, in 1992, Audrey was diagnosed with colon cancer. She battled
briefly with the cancer until January 20, 1993, when she finally died in her
home in Tolochenaz, Switzerland. From 1938 all the way to 1989,
Audrey Hepburn made a total of thirty-one movies. Her most remembered
films were Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, War and Peace,
and of course, My Fair Lady. Because of the Nazi
invasion of the Netherlands in 1940, Audrey was unable to leave the country
until 1948, when she returned to London to study ballet at Arnhem
Conservatory. She continued her ballet studies until a famous author cast
her in the broadway production of Gigi, which earned her wonderful critical
acclaim. Hepburn and
Dotti were also divorced, and later she finally settled and married Dutch
actor Robert Wolders.
