Fredrick Douglass

             Fredrick Douglass(born Frederick Augustus Washington Baily) was born as a young slave in Tuckhoe in Febraury 1818 to his mother Harriet Bailey. Fredrick was taken from his mother as a young child and sent to Lloyd Plantation with his master Aaron Anthony in 1824. Fredrick only got to see his mother about four or five times before she died in 1826. After the death of his mother he was sent to live Hugh and Sophia Auld in Baltimore. In 1836-38 Fredrick works as a Caulker in Baltimore shipyards, where he met his wife Anna Murray, they got married that same year in New York city. He escaped from slavery by train and boat and on september 3rd Anna and Him settle in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where he chose the name Fredrick Douglass. Fredrick worked as a day laborer and Caulker in New Bedford. In 1839 He spoke at meetings of The New Bedford's Blacks Against African Colonization. Then he became a licensed preacher at the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Chruch. On June 24 1839 his daughter Rosetta was born. On October 9 1840 his son Lewis was born. From 1841-43, He traveled extensively in New England, New York and across the North as an Abolitionist speaker, "telling his story" as a slave. His son Fredrick was born on March 3 1842, and on October 21 1844 his son Charles was born. From 1844-45 He wrote The Narrative and published it on May 28 1845 in Boston. In 1847 he started his own newspaper called "The North Star", it was published on December 3 of that same year. In 1851 Fredrick decided to change the name his newspaper to "Fredrick Douglass Paper". On February 20th 1895 fredrick Douglass died of a heart attack, leaving behide his his wife and four children. Still to this day Fredrick Douglass is remember for his great work.
