What happens in a Christian marriage service? What is the importance of the ceremony? The day before the ceremony the bride will probably have a hen night and groom will have a stag night. These 'nights' are a celebration, they tend to be a celebration of the couples last night of freedom. They are separate celebrations and the couple will not see each other until , the bride arrives at the church. It is known as bad luck for the couple to see each other before the wedding. It is also bad luck for the groom to see his future wife in the wedding dress. These are just superstitions, but now they tend to be a tradition. The Groom will be at the front of the church , waiting for the bride, as the Bride enters the relatives ,family, friends stand to watch the bride walk down the isle. With traditionally her father, who gives her away. The ceremony starts when the bride and groom stand before the priest, the priest calls out a few blessings and prayers(sometimes). Readings may be used, in some weddings a hymn may sung, the priest may
He will then say; Heavenly father, by your blessing, let this ring be to (name)and(name) a symbol of unending love and faithfulness, to remind them of the vow and the which they have made this day; through Jesus Christ our Lord. The husband and wife both sign the paper. This shows that when you are married, love connects you together. (priest then joins their right hands together) That which God has joined together, let not man divide. I therefore proclaim that they are husband and wife. The priests mentions having God's blessings to share there joy, is important because when the marriage becomes hard and problems occur , god will always there as a helping hand. When you take these vows they stay with you forever and ever. Priest: Blessed are you, Lord Jesus Christ: All: You have brought new life to mankind. God will be there good and bad times. I think this is important because getting married under the eyes of God is an honor , not a joke. The priest then informs them that they will; give their consent to the other. Looking after their children caring for them. These are vows they take in the name of God.
