Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin went on to partake in one of the more memorable political careers of all time. He ruled the Soviet Union for over a quarter of a decade, and under his rule The Five Year Plans allowed Russia to make rapid gains in terms of industry, and the collectivisation of agriculture worked well after some initial hiccups. Stalin managed to hold off Operation "Barbarossa", and eventually drove Hitler and the Wermacht back into Berlin. When all these actions, philosophies, and personnel qualities combined, Stalin was almost invincible. He became more individually important than the Communist Party itself, a fact many of the Communist Party secretly lamented. He did not allow other people views and outlooks to spread. His philosophies and actions taken during his time in rule also paved the way for his time as leader. He introduced countless new policies to gain the popularity of the women, and set up a youth branch of the Communist Party, the "Young Pioneers", to secure future up and comers. To him, the price of success was nothing. He will go down in history as a revolutionary leader with a difference. Millions of deaths could simply be brushed aside, so long as he remained leader. He developed the infamous "Cult of Personality", where he was seen to be the centre of Russian society, and took credit for all of Russia's successes. The way he managed to manipulate the people and the media is also something that many will never forget. These still rest in the backs of many peoples mind, and some will never forget. None of this could have happened however had Stalin not possessed a number of unique characteristics never before seen in a leader of such magnitude. He purged all his rivals, and used the "Show Trials" to boost his popularity when it was sagging in a period following the Wall Street crash of 1929, known as the depression. people homeless, and millions dead. He denounced the family and religion as a substitute to Communism.
