Qs) How far does a study of the site support this view?

Qs) How far does a study of the site and other sources support this view?In an attempt to answer this question we used an array of resources. Some of the resources include a visit to Housesteads Fort on the wall itself. Also we used writing and artefacts both from the roman era. In addition to that we studied a video on Hadrian's wall and have been reading a leaflet on it. Most of the evidence we used seemed to point to the conclusion that the life of the soldiers on Hadrian's wall was quite comfortable. The legionaries had at their disposal a first class hospital in which there was a trained surgeon, a herb garden, a toilet and a surgery room. The surgeon was trained in two acts cutting and sealing and in this practice speed was of the essence. They had a public toilets which for that era would have been very clean and a novelty. The latrines were at the lowest part of the fort to ensure no discomfort in the disposal of the waste. They would have been brilliantly organised. The latrinaes was

This site was also very useful with a lot of detail. The evidence supports it and does a good job. All the rooms where heated with hypocaust, because it was awfully different to Spain or Rome. There was a lot of rooms, more than usual. This was by far the most comfortable building in the complex which isn't surprising considering hat it was for the Commanding officer. The bath house had three baths a hot bath, a cold bath and a steam room. The soldiers barracks even had a touch of class since they were well constructed and later developed into one room each. The barracks were also not in the best spot in the fort and the comfort level was ok. However the barracks were still organised and had storage rooms. The soldiers also got paid for their work and that was quite a feat in those times. Also if the common soldier was to meet a commanding officer this is where they would meet them. Also for food storage they had Granaries. The Vicus (a civilian settlement) was a common settlement where the roman soldiers kept their bits on the side and that's all we really know. The soldiers even had their own bath house which was an amazing comfort compared with other millita4y soldiers and the average, every day peasant. .
