             In the forever-changing times in information technology keeping data safe and secure is becoming a major concern. Hackers, crackers, and cyber terrorists are finding loopholes in a person's or an organizations computer network.

Every time you visit a site, your leaving a marker that reveals where you come from, what kind of computer you have, and other details about your identity and viewing habits for the Cookie Monster! Cookies by themselves pose no threat to the user and may even enhance user security when used by legitimate web sites. However rogue web sites that generate cookies coupled with JavaScript contains a feature that will provide rogue sites with the ability to read, write, erase and access the end user's hard disk. It has been documented that there several security issues in all of the popular browsers that allow a remote site to access the contents of a user's machine through the use of rogue ActiveX, Java and JavaScript programs.
             There are many reasons to hide your real identity when you use the Internet. You might want to protect yourself against scammers, hackers, cyber scams, or post email to a newsgroup without revealing your identity. Preventing "Cookies" from being stored to your hard drive is the first step to safeguarding your anonymity of the web. Cookies are small text files that your browser exchanges with a Web server. The invisible secret agents record information such as your password for a registered site. But because cookies may track your activities on the Web in ways that violate your privacy, you should control the information they share.
