The Storm by Kate Chopin

The Story "The Storm" by Kate Chopin is about two old lovers Calixta and Alcee who kind of lost touch since claixta's marriage "She had not seen him very often since her marriage, and never alone."(650) The day the story took place is the day they did bump into each other again and got caught up in a storm.

After they give in to their lust for each other the lust is gone and so is the storm "The grown of the thunder was distant and passing." Calixta's husband Bobinot senses what is going on and he shares it with his son "Bobinot who was accustomed to converse on terms of perfect equality with his little son called the childs attention to certain somber clouds..." The clouds , a sign of an upcoming storm represent the signs Bobinot has noticed of his wifes lust. Bobinot is so used to talking to his son Bibi as an equal that he just naturally tells the boy his mother is lusting after someone else.
When the storm is over Bibi and Bobinot go home. Bobinot tries to hide that he told Bibi what was going on " He scraped the mud off Bibi's legs and feet..." The mud on the boy is a sign that he was in a storm, or a sign the boy was told of his mother's feelings.
