The second truth is “The cause of suffering is craving” (Fowler 257). Buddhism gives each and every person control of their own existence. Since this is hard to achieve, the action should at least be of good nature so it produces good karma. Until then Siddhartha had never fully realized what old age could mean in the way of weakness and disability. It is no wonder that the spread has encompassed much of the world. That life is unsatisfactory in the sense that all life is impermanent. Without this aspect, the effort involved in pursuing the whole path, there can be little hope for change.
