In the comparison of "The Blue Jar" and "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" go on a journey to discover hope. Both "The Blue Jar" and "The Mariner" happen in different ways but they symbolize the same meanings. Both Lady Helena and "The Mariner" on a sea and on a quest for a meaning. In conclusion a lesson learned on both parts is not to be so intent on something that might or might not ever happen because life just like age will continue without you. Lady Helena goes on a quest to look for a lost love and finds herself at the end of the road (in her life) with nothing to show for it but disappointment. The dependency of her lost love was a choice made at the beginning by her father. Because of this disaster "The Mariner" experiences physical pain and his "experience" is of a super-natural effect. There is no super-natural effect on Lady Helen's story. In seek for love and forgiveness both Lady Helena and "The Mariner" are punished. After long term suffering "The Mariner" decides that the best ways to find forgiveness is to appreciate all living things. So like everything else in life use good judgment in certain situations and be realistic even if it hurts. Not only did they learn about morals but also they discovered that hope kept them content with life. The similarities in this story are very obvious. In "The Mariner" he is on a quest to seek forgiveness because he kills one of Mother Nature's creations.
