The Rape of the Lock was an interesting story that displayed greed, envy, and lust. These qualities are portrayed in the story as well as the way they are portrayed now. The roles of men and women have changed tremendously from then to now. Now women have more of a place and a role in society. Men have always been superior and that is also beginning to change. Men are portrayed as greedy, hungry dogs that have nothing better to do than chase women. Women are seen as vain human beings that care more about their looks that what is happening in the world. The roles of men and women were way different then than they are now. In this story, the men are portrayed as animals. They have no consideration for real problems of society because they are too busy chasing

Because the Baron was a man, he probably felt as though he could have what he wanted. He probably though that he could take advantage of her. He did not know what to do with himself. You can even go as far as to say that they have progressed. The worth of the women went down and then came up.
