A very old man with enormous wings

Fantasy is the unexplainable. It's the element of human beings mind that nobody really understands. The story 'A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings' by Gracia Marquez brings together reality with fantasy. An angel has a mystique quality about it. You expect to see a spiritual and illusive creature when you picture an angel. So how could this angel have fallen into the mud, and look so dirty? When people are challenged with their fantasy, their mind becomes boggled. Pelayo and Elisenda can't believe this old man to be an angel, a saint from the heavens.
The theme of this story is related to how the mind works. The idea people conjure up of their fantasy's, when the picture comes to life its not as all as they imagined. Marquez never bluntly stated weather or not the old man is just that, an old man or an angel. It's all related with how human beings envision things. The family who keeps this being doesn't completely believe he is an angel. Since so many other people stand strong being that assumption, the family follows along and make money with their new finding. Priests and doctors visit the house to test out the 'angel'. The priest says he is simply an old man, yet the doctor states he cannot be. The world will never know. The intermingling of fantasy with reality is a strange correlation. Tests may not solve this problem. The individual minds of each person can only answer for themselves.
