Chicago
This past Labor Day weekend will be unforgettable. Three friends and myself took off and headed to Chicago. I never thought Chicago could be so much fun. We rented a car and were on our way to the big city. The drive only took us 4 1/2 hours that's because I drove between 80-100 miles per hour the entire way. Once we arrived in Chicago on Saturday, we went to the Holiday Inn downtown to get a room and unload our luggage. It was a very nice hotel; we were on the eighth floor, with a gorgeous view of the city. We were surprised the hotel had valet parking but we would soon find out that a lot of the hotels and restaurants had valet parking. Once we got unpacked we went out to enjoy the city and that we did. The best time we had was when we visited Navy Pier. Trying to find a parking spot was a nightmare, we drove around for about a 1/2 hour looking. Finally we said the hell with it, and parked in a parking garage, little did we know that it was going to cost us $30 for three hours. The view of Michigan Lake was gorgeous:There were seagulls flying all around us. The water was so very clear, and you could see a far away view of Michigan. It
Once we stepped into the elevator it took us between 60-70 seconds to reach the Skydeck Observatory. We drove it along the beach at Michigan Lake, through the Navy Pier, and through Grant Park. Each time I've been it was on a spur of a moment decision, but it was definitely better this time. We rented this four seated bicycle; it looked like a go-cart with pedals. " On a clear day the view from the towers skydeck spans 40 or 50 miles and into four states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. I was told the best time to visit the Sears Tower was later in the day for two reasons: dusk is always a nice time to watch the lights come up in Chicago, and the lines are normally not very long. It probably took about 20 minutes after we left for our ears to feel normal again. We ate at a few nice restaurants and visited quite a few nice bars. We were among the people standing up, and that was a difficult thing to do for me, considering how much I had drank. The sad part about that is that I was so messed up, I can't remember the names of them. The next time I go to Chicago I want to have the trip planned out. As we began getting higher and higher our ears started to hurt. I believe Chicago is ahead in the times and technology by a few years compared to Cincinnati; the way the city is set up, the buildings, and the people. One person steered while all of us peddled.
