Subjects:
Great Depression. Characters possess different discomforts and aspirations that made
them so unique from each other. Themes were expressed by figurative language and
conversations between the characters. John Steinbeck created a novel with numerous
ambiguous themes that only of his own caliber could create.
It describes how we base or set our foundation of our lives with dreams and
inspirations of the future, in order, to survive and make life more exciting and thrilling.
It gives us strength to keep struggling through hard work. Reality is not always
envisioned very pleasantly, there is a tendency to relieve and forget about life by thinking
of a better tomorrow. Dreams kept them going through hard times, George and Lennie.
Their dream is mentioned in page 16 of Of Mice and Men. When Lennie made
George tell him about their dream future: “ …we’ll have a big vegetable patch and a

pain and suffering during the Great Depression. Motivation (like dreams of a better tomorrow)
created effort in surpassing each obstacle that life created. ” (Of
Mice and Men 88-89)
Candy could not trust George from the start, because stress turned people into
bilious and bestial individuals. Domination over it’s own
species is a priority to humanity. Sometimes, we flourish our life-style and measure by a patron called
people’s criticism. He learns about his abilities and weaknesses and improves as a
person, from it. d when it rains in the winter, we’ll just say the hell with
goin’ to work, and we’ll build up a fire in the stove and sit around it an’ listen to the rain
comin’ down on the roof-Nuts!”. It is
usual that people try to forget this tainted interval of American history. John
Steinbeck shows this idea in the narrator’s statement: “The old man was reassured.
Obligation does not pursue happiness or personal fulfillment.
Mistakes and errors are part harmful.
. Curly’s wife showed Crooks her authority over him: “Well, you keep your
place then, Nigger. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy it ain’t even funny.
