The American Dream
The American Dream is being able to do whatever you want. The feeling of want for something better than what you already have. Anyone who has ever thought that they deserved a promotion or bought a lottery ticket, has at one point in their lives thought about something better for themselves. If they hadn't, then they would not have tried to get the new corner office space, or win that million-dollar prize. The idea of the American Dream still has truth in today's time, even if it is wealth, love, or fame. The thing that never changes about the American Dream is that everyone deserves something in life and everyone, somehow, strives to get it.Many people think that the Grapes of Wrath is a novel about the migrant farm workers in the 1900's. This is only partially true. Though the novel's focus is on the migrant workers, it is really the story of each man's search of the American Dream. The American Dream shows
She also shows how race, prejudice, and economic problems effect a black mans role in his family, how he provides, and his identity. My senior year is the last year that I can be a "kid," and I plan to make the best of it. As she finds out the meaning of the yellow wallpaper, she starts to change. that each man has the right to strive for happiness. She wants to help herself to become free. Someday I will get old and have my children and grandchildren beside me knowing that in my life I have experienced my dream and wouldn't change anything for the world. Its main focus is on Walter's effort to make it, or be somebody. By the end, the last thing she can do is rip up the wallpaper, and help the woman in the wall to become free. This causes many Americans to be very greedy. I plan on attending the University of Kansas and majoring in elementary education. I will probably come back to Sedgwick County and find a nice job. In the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, you see the American Dream through a cry for freedom. She sits and waits for her husband to come to confront him. I hopefully will get lots of scholarships to pay my way through college.
