HATCHET DIARY ENTRIES

We were flying over the Canadian woods in a single engine plane when the pilot had a massive heart attack. Well at first he was rubbing his shoulder and letting off gas then before I knew it he lurched back into the seat in agonizing pain. I quickly realised that he was having a heart attack. I felt so helpless. Within minutes he was dead and I was alone in the middle of nowhere. My only chance of survival was to fly the plane myself. I couldn't do any thing. My hands and head just froze. After hitting some turbulence my mind got working again. Luckily the pilot had shown me some basic flying skills so I tried to fly the plane myself but the control wheel was so sensitive I couldn't get it in the right position. Then without warning the engine died and the thought of death crossed my mind and made me sick. I spott

I blew more gently and at last I produced fire. Today I tried to use this effect to start a fire. It attacked so I threw the hatchet at it but missed and hit a rock wall instead. I froze then realised the bear wasn't my enemy; It was just looking for food too. The wing got wrenched off and the plane slammed into the lake. How I wished my Mum was here but I could only remember her with that strange man. Diary Entry 3Finally I have fire. Now I have to work on a steady supply of fuel to keep this fire going. Alone, wet and in pain, I was thankful to be still alive. Later on I found some luscious raspberries, which were much sweeter and so juicy, but I encountered a bear also looking for food. A few days ago I found berry bushes not far from the lake's edge, which was my first food. Self-pity set in with the starvation. So I tried the twenty-dollar bill in my pocket but it would not ignite. This fire is such a precious friend providing a means of mosquito control, cooking, heat, light and a signal for help.
