Sex Education in Middle School

             Sex education has been one of the primary sources of controversy in the public schools. Especially now when teen pregnancy rates are high and HIV/AIDS is having a devastating impact on young people.
             As a concern parent along with other community residents agree that sex education should be taught in our town's middle school. Along with the consequences and alternatives to sex.
             Some parents have a difficult time trying to discuss sex with their children. Some don't know where to start or to what degree of detail they should go into without being to explicit. There are also children who don't have a good relationship with their parents and are not able to communicate with them. Then there are parents who don't care whether their child is sexually active or not.
             This program should cover STD's, pregnancy, and birth control. Informing our children about the consequences of sex before it's too late is a good idea since we as parents will not be able to monitor their every move. We will give our children the knowledge and hope they are capable of making the right choose.
             A well-trained sex education teacher will be able to answer questions that we as parents may not have been able or prepared to answer. Implementing the right sex education program and the right person teaching the program our children should be able to comprehend that sex maybe fun but at the same time it can be dangerous. We will also know that are children will be receiving vital information that will last a lifetime and prepare them for the real world.
