The three primary states to human existence and well being are; emotional, mental, and physical. In Shakespeare's play, Macbeth, these qualities are used to allow the reader to discover the characters strengths and weaknesses. Based on these three states, the main character of Macbeth can be categorized as the strongest character in the play. The character of Macbeth is first introduced to the reader as a strong and brave character. His physical strength is revealed during the camp scene in Act 1, Scene 2. King Duncan learns of a battle which Macbeth fought bravely, defeating the enemy.King Duncan is impressed by Macbeth's bravery. "O valiant cousin! Worthy gentleman!" (1.2.24) Macbeth's bravery on the battlefield is discussed at length by the captain who witnessed the battle. He describes Macbeth as a loyal warrior who did not stop until he killed the enemy of the king. " Till he unseamed him from the nave to th' chops, And fixed his head upon our battlements."(1.2.22-23). His physical strength is also revealed during various fights throughout the play. He strongly believes in spirits, curse, fate, and prophecies. Macbeth shows the emotions of love and loyalty throughout the play. Macbeth's character is revealed as the strongest character in Shakespeare's play, Macbeth. He proves his love for his wife by agreeing to carry out the murder of King Duncan. Macbeth's loyalty to the king is demonstrated before the reader even meets the character as the reader is told of his fight on the battlefield in Act 1 scene 2. The murders cause his wife to become insane and leads to her death but he is able to continue on even after hearing this news. He begins to see all those who stand in his way of obtaining the throne as an enemy and plans to remove them. He is still acting on the emotion of greed to carry out his plan.
