When coming to Clarion I remember one question that came directly into mind, "What can I do to be a master student?" I thought about it and tried to come up with a person that I could try to relate myself to and follow their successful ways. Although Malcolm X wasn't exactly who came into mind, I have found than even though he has done controversial things in his lifetime he still plays the role of a master student in my mind.
             After reading about Malcolm's life I tried to think of one of the dominate trait that he portrays as a master student. I began thinking about when his father died, and his family was put to shame throughout the town. When his mother went to get a job they denied her any position. I felt by dealing with this much abuse that Malcolm must Courageous. "Malcolm was a smart, focused student and graduated from junior high at the top of his class". (Cmgww.com) This shows me that he had to have been courageous in order to move on and do well in his schooling. He fully experienced his fear by getting through the tough times and coming out as a motivational speaker, and a role model for many master students.
             Another trait that I feel describes Malcolm as a master student is his Willingness to Change. Malcolm did make some wrong decisions, as most people will do, but he realized he was wrong and mad the effort to change. He went from not knowing barely any complex words, to memorizing the entire dictionary, obviously broadening his vocabulary extensively. At first he said that "nearly all of the words (of the book) might as well been written in Chinese." (Ellis 60) Even though he was truly having a hard time with understanding all of the words, from not furthering his education, he stuck with it
             and became one of the most inquisitive people in the world. He was curious about everything. He did not let a moment pass by where he didn't learn from it, so at least
