             "... I took a step toward him, and then my knees bent and I jounced the limb. Finny, his balance gone .............. hit the bank with a sickening unnatural thud ............ with unthinking sureness, i moved out on the limb and jumped into the river, every trace of fear of this forgotten (Knowles 52). When our emotions rush through our bodies, and end up taking over before long. We bear no taciturnity over our own body. Emotions can alter a persons proficiency to make decisions. We generate ourselves to get choleric about things, that when we realize the outcome to, it is never gratifying.
             Insecurity is a dominant component in the proliferation of the novel. Gene is decrepit about his own capabilities and intelligence. He also deems that Finny is endeavoring to destroy his academic success, even though it is Gene's paranoia over his own lack of talent. Then Gene's paranoia leads to eventually taking the opportunity to destroy Finny's nonpareil nature. Gene thought that since both of them were both exceptionally good at something, Finny wanted to ruin Gene's talent. Gene was also assured that there was rivalry between them, even though it was just Gene's insecurity about himself.
             From the same incident, another emotion arises; denial. Finny denies that it was Gene that caused his accident. One of Finny's rules of life is that all people are innately good. Finny denies all of the events surrounding his accident. When Brinker tries to question Finny about the incident, Finny runs, instead of acknowledging the truth. Finny also tries to deny that the war exists. Instead he claims it is a fabrication of fat old men trying to stop young people from enjoying themselves. This is his excuse since he can't fight. Finny also wants Gene to train for the 1944 Olympics. He refuses to accept the loss of his athletic ability.
             Finny breaks his leg a second time, then he has surgery, and dies. Insecuri...
