Television and the Effects on society

             Television viewing can have many different effects on a person's life, actions, or the way that he thinks. Television has been apart of our lives for over forty years, and has been a valuable tool that people can use to get educated. There are many great shows on T.V. that allow a person to open their mind and think. Television can be better than books in some ways. In other ways, television can corrupt a persons mind, and allow a person to become addicted.
             Television today has a very wide variety of shows. There are many shows that educate people about a different topic that they did not know. This part of television is just as good or even better than a book. Watching educational shows opens up peoples minds to different categories that he has not seen before. Even young kids can watch shows like "Sesame Street" and "Barnie" that allow the kids to become ready for school. Television can be used as a tool to broadcast important messages that need to be known. The President uses television as one of his messengers. Television can be used as propaganda, or for commercial purposes.
             What comes with the good is always the bad. Television can be known to corrupt a persons mind. Just like there is educational, and entertaining shows on television, there is also shows that can corrupt and ruin a persons mind. Television's job is to make a person feel like he is right there listening to the teacher. This can have a great effect on the way people react to what they are being told. Reading a book allows people to ponder on what they have read, and comprehend what they are being told. Television tells a person what they are going to think, instead of giving them choices.
