Animal Farm

The book Animal Farm is a satire on the Russian revolution, and therefore full of symbolism. The characters and buildings in this story represent more than farm structures or just plain animals. They represent the infrastructure of the rise of communism, not only in Russia but everywhere. In animal farm there were 3 basic classes of animals. The Pigs and the Dogs were at the top class which was the bureaucrats and secret police. The second class was the working class which included: the horses, rats and rabbits, donkeys and the wild animals. The last class was the middle class represented by Mollie the cow.The top of the class was represented by 3 main pigs and a pack of dogs. The three main pigs were Snowball, Napoleon and Squealer. Napoleon and Snowbal

During the construction the disasters were blamed on the scapegoat Snowball. Squealer represented propaganda during the Russian revolution. The KGB symbolized the pack of dogs in animal farm. She symbolized the middle class who would least benefit from the revolution. The pigs and the dogs supervised the hard work done by the working class of animals. They thought the revolution would bring change for the better for them and their families, but they were viciously tricked. After a while no one remembers how life was before the revolution and nothing is different apart from the leadership. The Second class of Animals was again the working class. The third and final class of animals was represented alone by Mollie the cow. Just like the horses who eagerly welcomed and picked up everything the leader Napoleon said. In the middle class they were well-off and had a pretty good life. The people in the boxer rebellion were mostly of the proletariat class. In Russia, the proletariat class (unskilled workers) was the most drawn to the revolution and Stalin. Snowball represented Trotsky who was another leader during the rise of communism.
