A Man Called Horse

             The video "A Man Called Horse" circulates around the story of John Morgan (Richard Harris). John decides that he is going to get away from the big city and live out in the forest. Unforuanetly, things do not go the way John planned. John is captured by Sioux Indians who treat him no better than a horse. At first, the tribe plans to do nothing more than to kill him, but as time progresses they begin to realise that John might be worthy of survival. The tribe decides to pass John through a series of tests that will permit him to become a member of their tribe. Such tests include the Sun Vow Initiation.
             At the beginning of the movie, we can see that John is not happy to be where he is. Multiple times he attemps to escape, but not once is he able to succeed. John decides that as long as he is in this position, he might as well work on becoming accepted. By the end of the movie we can see that John has become very well adapted to his new life, and has been accepted by the tribe as if he was one of their own. John has married into the tribe, and is willing to risk his life through battle for them. After five years the tribe is forced to move on to other grounds because of loss in battle. At this point, John decides to return to civilization.
             When John returns home he does not say much about his experiences. This could be because of many different reasons. To start off with, I believe that he wanted, in his own way, to respect the tribe. They became a second family to him and to sit back and talk about them would be disrespectful. At the same time, it reminds him of everything that he lost.
             Even though John did have trouble adapting to his new life at the beginning of the story, in the end he ended up with a wide and a child to be. The fact that just when he began to get used to everything, and just when he thought
