Aphrodite is most often described as radiant and shining. when Aphrodite is present the whole world acquires a soft golden glow. "Foam born," she is associated with the creative, life-giving sea and represents a sense of freshness, renewal, and hope. A descendant of the prehistoric water bird goddess of Old Europe, she is often accompanied by birds. The goddess of both spiritual and passionate love. Aphrodite joins us to one another. She is feminine being in all her fullness, and her realm is that of relationship and feeling. Aphrodite demands maturity if we are to be in true relationship; when we embrace mature love, Aphrodite is there to bless us.

The Goddess Aphrodite doesn't really have any parents. She was created when Cronus threw his father Uranus into the sea. She rose from the foam. Her name literally means "foam-born."
She was married to Hephaestus, the God of Smith, who was quite ugly. Hera had arranged it for her. She never really loved him. Her true love was Ares, God of War. They had three children, Harmonia, Phobus and Deimus. Aphrodite was also the mother of Eros.
Aphrodite had once fallen in love with Adonis. When he was born, she gave him to Persephone to take care of him. But Persephone fell in love with him and wouldn't give him up when the time came. Ares' jealousy caused Adonis' death.
Hephaestus, Aphrodite's husband, knew of Ares' and Aphrodite's love. He embarrassed both of them by capturing them in a golden net and showing them to the other Olympians while they were having a love affair.
