Jack Kevorkian
When there is any discussion of assisted suicide in the USA, one name seems to pop upmore than any other, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, also commonly known as Dr. Death. Kevorkianhimself has assisted more than 200 assisted suicides in the US since 1990. Also since 1990Kevorkian has been tried for several murders stretching from assisted suicide, only recently didKevorkian actually got convicted of second degree murder and now is in a federal prison in Kevorkian, born in Pontiac, Michigan, was educated at the University of MichiganSchool of Medicine with a specialty in Pathology. What he learned at school, prompted him tobe a big Euthanasia proponent. He has written several essays and articles such as "The LastFearsome Taboo: Medical Aspects of Planned Death." Kevorkian was convicted of 2nd Degree murder in Pontiac, Michigan, the same placewhere he received 3 acquittals and one mis-trial . In the case of 1999, Kevorkian assisted a
Onthe show he dares the DA to press charges and even has enough confidence in what he did thathe was his own lawyer in the murder case against him(which almost is never successful). His writing style is easy to comprehend and makes no secret about whichside he is on on this issue. Asking questions is also a very important part of Kass's writings. Kevorkian's style of writing are straight to the point explanations of his work. He not only asks questions but he answers them throughout the essay, for example the title itself tells you he is going to explain to the audience why doctors must not kill. The difference between the two essays by Kass and kevorkian can simply be explainedas two totally opposite opinions on assisted suicide. kevorkian finally foundhimself convicted of second degree murder, which finally landed him behind bars. He had the injection of his chemicals into the mansbody on video tape. In his assisted suicide regimen are several meetings with Kevorkian and the prospectivepatient. It is souly the patients choice, kevorkian does not force assisted suicides uponpeople, but since behavior like this is illegal in all states but Oregon, Dr. Kevorkian then went on the show "60 Minutes," showing his video. His main point and argument is that people who are suffering from physically terminaldiseases, such as Lou Gherigs Disease and from Mentally terminal diseases such as Alzheimer'sdisease should have someone they can go to to ease family and obviously the patients ownmental and physical anguish. Kevorkian or Kass, it doesn't matter who's opinion you have more pull for, the issue ispeoples life and whether you should legally be able to take your life when you are in gravephysical and mental pain.
