Eudora Welty's character Sister in "Why I live at the P.O." has many characteristics. None of are them very good. She is jealous, self-absorbed, and rude. She does not think about how what she does affects anyone but her. Welty may have been trying to create a figure one could feel sorry for, but it did not come across that way to me. Sister is jealous of Stella-Rondo. She thinks Stella stole her boyfriend Mr. Whitaker by telling him that she was one-sided. She says she was with him first and Stella lied about Sister to get him.
