When we get into our cars to drive, we don't stop to think what kinds of other
drivers we'll share the road with. We hope that other drivers will be safe drivers. We
rarely realize that there are many hazardous drivers out there. Hazardous drivers vary
from those who are under the influence, to very young or very old drivers. We have laws
to keep these drivers off the road. For the under the influence drivers, we have a law
which takes away a person's driver's license if she/he has been caught driving under the
influence. For the young drivers, we have a law, which allows only persons over the age
of 16 to posses a driver's license. However, there is still a group of hazardous drivers,
which we have neglected. We have not made rules for these drivers to follow. This group
of drivers is the older drivers. Although they have been driving for a very long time they
are still a hazard on the streets. Because of the increasing amount of motor vehicle
accidents caused by older people, laws should be made. In order to renew their license,
drivers over 70 should be required to pass the driving test every three years, and drivers
over 80 should be required to pass the driving test annually. This will not only decrease
the number of motor vehicle accidents caused by the elderly drivers, but it will also save
As a group, older drivers are some of the country's most experienced and
save drivers. They don't speed, and they don't drive after drinking alcohol. However,
when compared to the younger drivers, people over 70 are a lot more likely to cause a car
accident. This is not because they are becoming bad drivers; it's because certain changes
take place in the body, as a person gets older. Muscles weaken and joints stiffen, as the
body gets older. Turning one's head when it's time to change lanes can becom...
