A Circular Path

             The road repeats itself. We begin young and naive, eventually working our way up. You finally make it to the top, and then the day comes when the cycle repeats again. The years go by, friends are made, and relationships fall apart. Slowly, I began my journey into self-discover. I ran the with 'popular crowd' in high school – a running back on the football team, an appearance at the big parties, and part of the large group of people whom everyone seemed to want to be around. I felt like I had 'made it' in high school. But as time goes on, I finally began to see the shady side of the group. We talk behind each others backs, pre-judge people before talking to them, gossip, and find any way we can take advantage of each other. I tended to stay away from this sort of approach. There were a lot of facades and false impressionable linked with my friends. Luckily, I succeeded in staying my own person, living the life I wouldn't trade for any other. If I hadn't, I wouldn't be me- I would be who I was told to be.
             Early into my high school career, many of my friends had already received multiple police charges, like Kevin, who has a DUI, totaled a car, and is on his 7th DUI. I wasn't one to drop friends, I just put a little distance between those I knew would pull me into trouble. Being with this group put me into position where I was viewed upon by others as unpleasant, obnoxious, and ruthless. We though we were better than the rest. Some friends had similar interests and qualities; these are the ones I stayed closer to. Others, however, had low priority on school, no conscience for trouble, and eventually put me in bad situations. It was a role of agitation, to keep up with everything I had going.
