One's culture are the patterns of behavior and thinking that people create, and share. Some kids don't care and they still let guys call up or girls call up. Everything that the children do, affects their own family. Lack of respect exhibited within a family, as well as for the family as a unit is not tolerated in Indian families. When a girl comes around an age for marriage, which would be when she's 23-25, parents will ask the girl if she has a guy that she's dating or if she plans on marrying a certain someone. However, "love at first sight and marriage" by arrangement by the couple's parents are more prevalent. She will not be forced into marrying him. Basically the consequences of children's actions directly affect their own family. One shouldn't let go of their traditional beliefs and values but it is okay to be a part of both worlds. In India, a child has the responsibility to preserve the reputation of their family, and children are not able to "experiment with their lives. But this is the reason why many American teenagers experiment with their lives. Yet, there are some exceptions in certain American families. Hence, the channels of communication are often not open, leaving the youngsters to cope alone with the complexities of romantic relationships and sexuality. Whatever it may be, there is still a great amount of tension within the families about the cultural clashes and how the children are affected by it.
