Because the samurai had little respect for their own lives, they didn’t really care for the lower class either. With trying times for people of all classes, feudalism wasn’t one of the most productive times in our history. The fighting among themselves was destructive than anything else. In fact, they would kill commoner for small offenses. Also, the fact that Japan was so isolated didn’t give them a chance to change and develop their system of government as quickly. This showed that there was no true order or authority, and there was no respect for the law. Japan felt the affects of the feudal period. This code actually influenced warriors who felt they did not live an honorable life to commit suicide. As where in Europe’s case, they needed protection from other countries. The gap between the classes became too large, and now peasants were forbidden to even dress like the warriors, ride on horseback, or carry swords. There were negative effects in both ends. They thought it was better to die for their master than to defeat the enemy.

Feudalism was a period of growth and experimentation for both the Japanese and European societies. Many people died as the result of the bushido movement, and the hard times feudalism was prolonged because of Japans isolation.
