Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest rock bands ever. Their biggest hit Stairway to Heaven, is one of the best rock songs of all time, also. There were four members in the band: John Bonham, John Baldwin, Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant. Jimmy Page was born on January 9, 1944 in Heston, Middlesex U.K. His mother was a doctor's secretary and his father was an industrial personnel officer. In his early life he live on his uncle’s farm in Northamptionshire, then later his family moved to Epsom, Surrey when his was eight. His life was basically normal, then at twelve he heard Elvis’ “Baby Let’s Play House” and it change his life forever. He picked up a guitar and some lessons and he was set. He continued to play and in 1965 in was asked to join the Yardbirds (later renamed Led Zeppelin), he first declined and then later joined. In 1968 the Yardbirds broke up and Jimmy had it put together a new band and that’s how Led Zeppelin was formed. org) Robert Plant was born on August 20, 1948 in W. In 1968 Jimmy Page came to see him and he joined Led Zeppelin. The first album, Led Zeppelin I, was recorded in less than thirty hours, and though credit was given to Jimmy Page for writing all the songs, Robert Plant did have a hand in writing the lyrics. The third album, Led Zeppelin III, was recorded at Headly Grange, the Rolling Stones mobile recording truck, but all of the songs were written at a Welsh retreat where the band stayed after a long tour. John played in several bands, and then in August of 1968 Jimmy Page and Peter Grant went to see him play and he accepted the position as drummer for Led Zeppelin. If you listen to the lyrics it says “and she’s buying her stairway to heaven”. Though this album was released in 1973 the song, Houses of the Holy, was released in 1975 on Physical Graffiti. At seventeen he left school and auditioned for Jet Harris and Tony Meehan, and wanted to join the band they were putting together. In Through the Out Door, was the last studio album recorded by Led Zeppelin in 1979. He grew up in the town Kidderminster.
