Footsteps into a New Threshold
College education, a new frontier in the ever-changing path of our lives. An era, so to speak, in which we enter an educational institute still teenagers, to graduate more knowledgeable and mature men. At this point, we are like blocks of stone, to be sculpted over the next few years of our undergraduate education into individuals ready to face the real world. Undoubtedly, these are the most important years of our lives; the qualities and knowledge we imbibe now will forever remain with us and affect the rest of our lives in the most profound way. These are the years in which I hope to strike a balance between my social and academic life; to graduate a confident person well equipped to stand on my own two feet. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses one possesses, an individual can determine who he is and what he will be able to achieve in life. My greatest strength is the fact that I can perform extremely well in stress
As far as I can remember, I have always performed better and worked more efficiently when the atmosphere around me has been tense. Improving on my strengths and minimizing my weaknesses is a goal as important for me to achieve as is getting good grades. Scenario one: I have just started studying for an exam to be given in seven hours; I need to study at least seven hours to achieve the desired grade. Scenario two: I study for the same paper three days in advance, and revise the day before the exam. No matter what you do, no matter how much you may try, you can only excel if you go by the book. One of the most apparent is the fact that I possess little or no time management skills. Most likely result: I will accomplish the task at hand, and get the grade I want. I do not really have a "greatest weakness" as such. I want to learn to effectively manage my time, so that I can efficiently manage the work load that I will inevitably have at Tech, and still have time to exercise daily and to socialize. An abnormal quality I agree, but a very useful one. I have sometimes been labeled as an egoist, and even then I can only say that my habits are wrong. When I can continue to do that and at the same time constantly mature as an individual, I will truly consider myself a worthy yellow jacket.
