Studying abroad in Chicago

            "I will leave behind what I know and venture into the unknown"
            
             Each year, more that 2,000 students from Irish Universities spend a year studying abroad. Some are studying languages; others are interested foreign art, architecture or popular culture, and want to see it firsthand. Others again want the experience of living and learning in a place quite different from what they've known so far. I am one of them.
            
             I have been studying in Chicago for over three months now, and am having the time of my life. As one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world there are many things to do and see; Chinatown, Greek town, The Sears Tower (Tallest Skyscraper in the world), Chicago Bulls (made famous by Michael Jordan), Navy Pier and the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Chicago had many things to offer the Irish Student, whether you're interested in sport, art, history or alcohol!
            
             All study-abroad experiences come with a shock, which I soon discovered when I found out that Law is not offered as an undergraduate course in the United States. I was thus, the youngest person in my class, by four years! Furthermore, taking into account that everyone in my college already had various degrees in Psychology, Business and Journalism from NYU, UCLA etc and one person was even a cop with the Chicago Police Department, they were all extremely studious.
            
             Going out in Chicago is an entirely different event to what I'd experienced in Ireland. There are no themed nights like University College Dublin's legendary Beach Ball or Stockbrokers and Secretaries night. There is no endless line of various faculty balls to attend, but there are $1 beers, Taxis that's allow seven people squeeze in the back and clubs that remain open until 5am!
            
             All the Irish students in Chicago managed to arrange their timetables so we only have lectures Monday through Wednesday. This allows for a long week-end, every week-end! And with four d...
