Choosing an ISP
There are many things to consider when selecting an Internet Service Provider (Also known as ISP). Because there are so many people that have computers, at home, work, or school, there has been a great demand for internet access. The out come is that we know have a great selection of ISP's. Of course many people have very different needs and different reasons for choosing different Internet Service Providers. I will list a few of the ISP's that I have researched and let you know what to look for when selecting yours. First we I will give you a little information about a couple of providers. One of the most renowned providers is America Online (AOL). There is also Earthlink, AT&T, and MSN (a Microsoft product). All three are similar in basic ways, they provide internet access, they all offer web based E-Mail, (web based E-Mail is when your mail is stored remotely on a server somewhere else) and they all charge for their services of course. One the most famous features are its E-Mail and Instant Messaging. AOL does offer high speed internet access through DSL and cable. The way Microsoft promotes this by claiming that dial in time is quicker as well access time to web pages, music, and videos. The instant messaging service from AOL has been modified to Microsoft specifications, and is called Windows Messenger. So with this we will end on typical, brand name internet service providers.
