Math

I have always envied those people who knew what they wanted to do with their lives because I was never one of them. I had been leaning toward the business world for a long time, but it's a big world and there were so many directions to choose from. One day in eighth grade we had a career day at our middle school and I signed up to see a presentation on marketing communications not really having any clue what that was. When the hour had passed I had finally figured out what I wanted to do. I had discovered a career that would suit me perfectly. High school followed shortly after I had made this decision and many math classes came along with it. I was never too fond of math but I'm sure it doesn't speak too highly of me either. I knew there was no getting around it so I did what I had to do.
When it came time to sign up for college classes in June I once again realized there was no escaping math. I wanted to take all the math required as soon as possible and get it over with so I found myself in Math 110 this fall. I tried to set up a meeting with Professor Flunker who is my advisor in the marketing department but she wasn't returning my emails so I instead asked the questions to Professor Carrol, my economics professer. This is the only class I have right now in the business area so I figured it would work out alright.
Being just a month into my college career, it has already become very apparent to me how much math affects my daily life. I have used math in some way in all of my classes except English, and now I am using English skill in math. I realize how important math really is in the everyday world and I know why it is continually a required subject. Math surrounds us on a daily basis and being able to understand it is very important. I will definitely be using math in my marketing career someday, and when that day comes I will be happy I was forced to take so much math in preparation.
