Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Try to imagine living in a fast-moving kaleidoscope, where images, sounds, and thoughts are constantly changing. You feel really bored, yet helpless to keep your mind on what you are supposed to be doing. Unimportant sights and sounds are constantly grabbing your attention, and your mind drives you from one thought or activity to the next without stopping to think about it. For many people this is what it is like to have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). In my opinion ADD and ADHD are major disorders that need to be paid attention to not only in the classroom but in the workplace too. What is it like for those with ADD or ADHD in school or in the workplace? Kids in grade school often have a very rough time. Impulsively blurting out questions and answers with out permission, or jumping out of their desk to go sharpen a pencil 5 times in one morning, are typical behaviors of kids with ADD or ADHD in grade school. A high school student might find classes that require a lot of attentiveness such as Algebra and or Biology very troubling. They might find school extremely boring and therefore put little effort into it, resulting in low grade

If you put forth enough effort to then your problems with the disorders can be subsided. It is difficult having a sister, brother, or a classmate who gets angry, steals your toys, and loses your things. But schools are not like that and problems do exist for those suffering from these disorders. I just wish that the teachers and my parents had of realized then, what the problem was so it could have been diagnosed. People with ADD or ADHD have rapid firing nerve impulses that constantly stimulate the brain in all areas. Once children are diagnosed and receiving treatment, some of the emotional upset within the family may fade. Hyperactivity is mostly characterized by the person's endless supply of energy. People like this are unable to hold back their immediate reactions or think before they act. First they need to find a career that is fast paced and interesting so they can enjoy it and take great pride in what they do. Teachers not only need to know the proper ways of dealing with these kids, but they should also be able to recognize the disorders. Hyperactivity is a characteristic of those with ADHD; hence the term Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Adults with this problem feel constantly restless, or they may be fidgety. It can be compared to a lightning storm, the way the impulses fire in on the brain. They do also know that ADD or ADHD is not something you catch or come down with. Once you stop taking them then the problem persists.
