How Does Time Effect Our Judgement
"How Does Time Affect Our Judgments"Time can change a person's view on things, but at the same time, it can also give you a clearer understanding of a problem. As we allow ourselves to slowly analyze the problem. We are able to have a more neutral perspective, where we can control our emotional side from distorting our judgments. For example after you broke up with your boyfriend, you felt upset and vulnerable. Your emotional side started to take control of you. Due to your emotional unrest you may steer your anger towards your boyfriend blaming him for the break up or vice versa if you have a girlfriend, but what had actually happened was that it was just a mutual separation. In this case time allows you to think through what was the actual cause of the separation. Richard Rodriquez wrote his autobiography after twenty or so years had passed. His perspective, when he was a child would have been different from the perspective that he had twenty years later. From reading his autobiography we were able to learn about his life and a have a vague idea of his thoughts and feelings. But are these feelings or thoughts necessarily his true feelings. Since his autobiography was written twenty to thirty
After experiencing the holocaust, it had changed his perceptive of things, especially in things that may seem preposterous. He realized that he wanted a more passionate life. years after, many things had changed. Before the holocaust who could have thought that such horrible tragedy could happen. He not only looks different but he also has problems in communicating with the people at school. " He admitted that he missed the time that he had spent with his family and he began to hate writing his dissertation on genre and Renaissance literature. Wiesel had told this story many years after the holocaust. From the time that he had left his family in pursuit for a better education till the time that he is doing his dissertation, in the time that had elapsed, he was able to understand what is more important to him and that he felt remorse and sorrowful at the fact that he had not spend enough time with his family. What he had been through is something that no one could ever imagine. During that time, he was still very young, he had not known much about what was going on and he couldn't have possibly known that such things could possibly happen. History tends to repeats itself as they all say. I think it is fair to say that one must allow time to pass before one writes his autobiography because writing when you are writing about yourself, you need to look back on things that you have done. He became more aware of his parents. However Richard Rodriguez was able to let the passage of time to allow him to finally realize that he was wrong in treating his family.
