             Shortly into my senior year I got a job at T.G.I. Fridays as a waiter. This was my first job as a waiter so I really had no idea what I was getting into. My first couple of days they just had me follow around a few of the waiters and waitresses to ge
             an idea of the routine they follow. From that point though you are on your own to find the routine that best works for you. I soon found out that it is a job learned mostly by trial and error. When I was first starting, my mom, who is also a waitress,
             gave me quit a few helpful hints. After doing this job for nearly a year I know consider myself somewhat of an authority on it.
             I soon found out that there is a lot more to waiting tables than I had thought prior to my job experience. I had thought you simply took a persons order and brought there food out to them. This is certainly not the case though. A waiter needs to have
             ople skills to not only deal with customers but with fellow employee's. A waiter must also be organized to quickly and efficiently serve their customers. They must also be knowledgeable on the menu line of the restaurant.
             To be a "good" waiter one must provide their patrons with excellent customer service. The incentive to providing good customer service is a good tip! These people skills are vital to providing a customer with great service. I couldn't just go up to
             customer and say "whadda want." I needed to be polite about it and ask, "what can I get you folks today." I also had to keep in mind that there's no arguing, because the customer is ALWAYS right. For example, I would bring out a sandwich that came
             th mayonnaise and the customer would tell me to bring it back because they didn't want mayonnaise. I wanted to ask them why they didn't tell me that before since the menu clearly stated the sandwich had mayonnaise but I had to simply take it back with
