On some Counterproductive Social Aspects of Controlled Subst

In human society controlled substances have always had a significant presence in social situations. From the dawn of human civilization in Central Africa about twenty-five thousand years ago, drugs have been a part of human culture. In almost every past civilization there is evidence of drug use in some form. Honest normal people obviously have a want inside of them to alter their state of consciousness, to argue this fact is both a futile and imbecile endeavor. Instead we must come to terms with the reasons one would want to get ?high.? To portray these users as anything less than normal humans would only demonstrate the extent of one?s ignorance on matters of human nature. What we do is what we do, and all that we do by definition is natural. For any one to call these controlled substances ?bad? or ?evil? again would only demonstrate one?s overwhelming ignorance. We can instead acknowledge the fact that in modern society, certain drugs could be counterproductive or even dangerous to one?s wellbeing. I aim to designate the reasons one in modern American society would ever think to voluntarily come under the influence of a substance. Also I would like to elaborate on the justification of ritualistic or ceremonial use of substances

. . .
The proof that alternate systems might benefit us is in countries that have already reformed their prohibition laws, namely the Dutch in the Netherlands. We have the choice as the people; resist this change, or facilitate it. I hope that when my preceding generation dies off, they will take their ignorant opinionative attitudes with them so that we may finally get on with the task of bettering our society. Alcohol is legal all over the world, and alcohol is to me definitely a dangerous substance. The use of marijuana can influence lazy, unproductive behavior, but it is no where near as bad as it has been portrayed to be by the anti-drug propaganda wars of the 30s through the 90s. These sort of cutting edge social reforms are pivotal to the advancement of American society as a whole. If users hold honest jobs and are an asset to society, who is to say they are any different than the average blue-collared coffee addict. Too many tax dollars are dedicated to anti-drug propaganda that has little to no influence; when cheaper, more logical, and more effective anti-drug campaigns could be employed to actually cause a massive change for the better. , and how this reflects on the prohibition of select substances in the United States. Given enough communal use in a localized area, some substances can have an irrefutable negative influence on a given society. Depending on the type of person, an average high school student could justify the using of substances very easily without any peer pressure. I end this with the note that American society is undergoing changes that have never before been witnessed in the history of man.

If one were to take an objective look at the average American high school student, one should see a student free of drugs, devoted to education, and submissive to authority. It doesn?t help either that our controlled substance programs are run by pathological liars. The government shouldn?t be flooding my generation?s head with outrageous falsified scientific claims on the dangers of drugs, like was done with our predecessors.
