"Social Calls":
"In high school, popularity isn't a contest ---- it's war", a line stated by Eddie Griffin in the comedy movie, "New Guy", about the high school nerd destroying the popularity-obsessed social system after being released from imprisonment. As much as "The New Guy" was just a motion picture, the conflict of the script's plot, exists in actuality.Students spend more time in school than at home. And social popularity is most influenced in the 5 -day meets in school. Bill Hocter, a local psychiatrist, says, "Adolescence is the time when we start to separate individually more from our families and establish our own identities". School aides, teachers, administrators and classmates are all that fill the role of a student's peers. And to cordially fit in with peers is a task that still has difficulty being performed. Reinventing an image to fit in can sometimes result to extreme actions and the factors may include "fear of loneliness, poor judgment, lack of parental supervision, and failing to recognize one's self worth", as said by local psychiatrist, Bill Hocter, M.D.The decision to belong to a certain grou
"It's tough to give a general answer to this as a number of causes for the problem may exist or coexist in the alienated person or the group from which she is alienated (poor social skills, snobbishness, prejudice, general meanness, etc. Don't try and force yourself to be friends with people you are not comfortable with or vise versa. "As a teen, it becomes a social addiction to pursue things that may be wrong to be recognized in a crowd", Blas adds. Hocter also recommends to, "Find other friends, take up an interesting hobby, or volunteer to help people who are worse off than you. "Think for a moment how many of these people you'll still be seeing in 15 or 20 years-probably not many (it is difficult to have this perspective as a teenager, but it's worth trying to develop), Hocter includes. "The True Test of Popularity Teenagers need to realize that there is a difference between "popularity" amongst the "cool" kids and genuine popularity amongst everyone. In some cases, teens unsure of themselves look into other accounts into fitting in. In practice, this doesn't happen very often", Hocter advises. Tolentino says, "I would try to blend in or just walk away". The worst feeling of social alienation is feeling that you've got no friends at all. Those who are kind and caring are always the most popular people in the world . p and adopt their dress, talk, likes and dislikes is all part of a teen trying to fit in with her peers. This seems to be the case on Guam even more than in other places I've seen, perhaps because people move around less and form more lasting attachments," says Hocter. "And neither should anyone else", adds Blas.
