Introduction
The idea of us to go into Hereford was to find out what people thought of the town and what the town was actually like from their point of view and ours.
Hereford's C.B.D is surrounded by main roads. These are all links to the centre of the town for parking and easy access from public transport. My aim was to find out about how the environmental qualities deteriorate away from the centre of the town. This means that we needed to get information about all the streets in the centre of town, and all the streets just outside the centre, to see if there was much difference in quality.
I was expecting to see that there was a lot of difference in quality in the centre and the back streets outside the centre because not many people visit the back streets, so therefore the quality would not need to be as good. Where as in the centre, the quality would have to be a lot better due to the fact that many people visit every day.
The data was collected in booking sheets and questionnaires, which were then put together as one big result. These were then used to write up our proper results in neat.
Method
To start with we went to the street we were studying and went through the procedures. To find out the Environmental quality we stood on the side of the road and counted the traffic for a certain period of time, which was 5 minutes. The idea of this was to see how many cars were going into Hereford and how many cars were going out from Hereford. Also for the environmental quality we did a survey to see what we thought of the town and the different streets. We had to fill in answers to different questions like how safe the street was, how tidy it was, and how crowded the street was.
