A summary of Dune

             Imagine that you, a 15 year old boy, are living in the year of 10190. Humans are not the only inhabitants of the universe. You live not on Earth, but on a planet called Caladan, where your father presides as a Duke. After living all of your life on this place called 'home', your family will move to a planet where water is so scarce that it is used as currency - Arrakis, also known as Dune. This is the story of Paul , son of Duke Leto Atreides I .
             The Duke and his family are told, by the Emperor, to move to Arrakis to control the spice flow. This would mean great wealth, for the whole universe is dependent on this substance called 'spice'. It is used to cook and stunt the aging process. It was also used by the Space Guild to see in the future. The spice is like a drug; once taken, a being could be addicted for life.
             But there are many obstacles to overcome while controling this precious product. The dwelling in which the Atreides will reside, must be throughly searched for any possible death traps laid by the Harkonnens , the previous ruling family and the Atreides enemy. And, there are Fremen to deal with.
             The Harkonnens succeed in murdering Duke Leto I . Lady Jessica and her son, Paul, manage to escape into the desert. They encounter Fremen , who would have killed the last of the Atreides , had not Lady Jessica displayed that she knew the wierding way, a method of klling that the Fremen have wanted to learn.
             The Fremen accept Lady Jessica and Paul . In the meantime, Paul meets a young Fremen girl named Chani She becomes his new companion. Eventually they, along with Lady Jessica return to their castle on Arrakis. Paul rules as Duke.
             But there are many issues Duke Paul must face. He must reclaim his rightful kingdom and find acceptance amongst the Fremen . There are also allies to be made. Paul eventually marries Princess Irulan and keeps Chani as his concubine....
