Steroids

"The man who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been." Anabolic steroids are a common way athletes use to try and gain an edge over their opponent. Anabolic steroids are not legal drugs, and they do have many dangerous side effects. Steroids have been around for a long time. The first reported uses of steroids were in the early to mid 1930s. However steroids were not introduced to the United Sates until the early 1950s. Now steroids are very common throughout high school athletics as long as college and professional athletics. Athletes get so competitive and caught up with success that they do whatever means necessary to maintain their competitive edge no matter what the consequences are. Steroids are illegal drugs containing excessive amounts of testosterone. In some cases, athletes use horse testosterone in which the steroids are for "horse use only". These steroids help horses gain and maintain muscle. Steroids are not social ably acceptable. No athlete should lower themselves to the means of taking steroids. Athletes should not be allowed to use anabolic steroids due to the potent


When people become overly aggressive, some athletes could do something . Testosterone is the main ingredient in steroids, "All anabolic-androgenic steroids are derivatives of the natural male hormone testosterone. Athletes gain weight at a very rapid pace but the drug catches up to their bodies. Once the body gets the increased amount of testosterone, the body becomes overly aggressive which is a good thing for athletes while they are lifting weights. " (Lukas 14) Hitler believed steroid use was very necessary so his troops would become bigger and stronger then the other country troops. Success can become stuck in people's head. When athletes begin to take steroids, they start taking massive amounts of testosterone. Steroids do have some temporary advantages to them, "Steroid hormones and related hormone drugs used by athletes cause dangerous imbalances and only temporary advantages. Steroids use goes way back to the late 1930s. In the male body, testosterone is a larger dosage than in the female's body. Even if sacrificing means risking their life or others life. Testosterone is a dietary supplement that athletes can take legally but the testosterone is in small doses. However, this can be a very negative consequence.
